Founding year: Thursday, August 19, 1999

Humanitarian Foundation is a local voluntary development organization working in Chittagong Hill Tracts. At the end of 1999, the people of Chittagong Hill Tracts were found deprived from basic human needs like as Education, Health support service etc while the people of the rich countries were waiting to welcome the new Millennium (21st century) with ecstatic joy and happiness.

Some committed and dedicated youths founded Humanitarian Foundation in 1999 under the leadership of Mr. Moung Moung Shing, Mr. Abraham Tripura and Mr. Amar Shanti Chakma with view to survive the vulnerable and marginalized people of CHT in the new Millennium.

Humanitarian Foundation (HF) is registered with the Department of Social Service, Bandarban, under the Ministry of Social Welfare, Govt. of the People's Republic of Bangladesh vide Reg. No. Band-184/03 dated 21-12-2003

Village primary school set up: 2004

Education is one of the top priority development themes of Humanitarian Foundation (HF) since inception. HF was, infact, established with view to increase education rate in the Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT). Hence, HF set up primary schools in 2004 in several villages in Thanchi and Ruma upazila of Bandarban hill district with small scale financial support from Xaverian Society, Italy and Brac Bangladesh. Later, the project phased out because of financial unavailability and since 2009 a total of 20 village primary schools and 2 hostels (boys and girls) continuing with financial support of CO:OPERAID, Switzerland.

Upasshak hostel: 2009

HF built two hostels (boys and girls) in 2009 on land of HF. The two hostels (boys and girls) are located at Balaghata, Bandarban. Total 50 students (boys 25 and girls 25) accommodate in the hostel. As of 2018, total 25 students pass secondary School certificate examination (SSC). Of them boys 11 and 14 girls.

Thanchi upazila office: 2011

HF built office building at Thanchi upazila on own land in 2011 under the financial auspices of CO:OPERAID, Switzerland. Besides office, the building is being used training center for Alusama Froi project. Alusama Froi provides 5 trades: computer, tailoring, weaving, plant nursery, carpentry, to unemployed youth and women.
